This ancient practice is a systematic relaxation that allows the conscious mind to rest and recede to the background — while awareness remains. You find yourself in a state between wakefulness and dreaming where visualization and intention are potent. Each time you practice yoga nidra it's different. You move out of patterns of stress and over busy-ness into a more balanced, more creative brain state — a place where left and right hemispheres of the brain work together to create new neural pathways — bringing you to a state of deep relaxation and heightened creativity.

Yin Yoga Workshop with Thourya Haoues-Brown

Learn about Yin Yoga and how it could enhance your practice, help rejuvenate and nourish your body and mind. This form of postural yoga is meant to complement more active styles of yoga, as well as other dynamic, vigorous forms of exercise (running, cycling, CrossFit, HIIT, MMA, etc.) After a brief introduction on the history and principles of Yin Yoga, we will do a full practice, holding poses for 3 to 6 minutes to allow muscles to relax and deep connective tissue to be stimulated, targeting areas neglected in Yang forms of activity, and therefore promoting strength, vitality, hydration and resilience.
Although Yin can be practiced in a restorative context, this particular workshop will aim at challenging our bodies and testing our minds, perhaps revealing more than physical blockages and learning ways to confront them.
Thourya has been a student of yoga for a decade, always seeking to learn more, by trying different styles and lineages, attending workshops and trainings, near and far. After missing out on one of those “Intensives” because she was not a certified teacher, she enrolled in the Yoga Dimensions 200hr YTT program, and absolutely loved that experience. She continues to explore the world of yoga, and has just completed a 50hr certification in Yin Yoga with Josh Summers, following in the footsteps of her original teacher — Kristin Fosci.
Thourya’s multicultural background as well as her professional experience have given her a unique perspective on this adventure of Yoga and she is excited to share what she has learned and continues to learn along the way.
